What’s going on.

This is a start of the new blog which should follow the development of the current games in development at BadBumble.com

At the moment we have two games currently in development and one stuck on the back burner. The two games currently in production are Shuffle Blocks (which you can find basic information from the main site at www.badbumble.com) and a puzzle game called GoGo Digger, which we are going to release for free for anyone who joins the mailing list. Think of it as a thank you for supporting the site and games. It was actually our first game we released when we were called “Angry Beaver” (I still love that name for a company) and it did sell a couple of 1000’s copies on the mobile phones when it was released.

I’m hoping to update the blog every weekend with any new information about the games and maybe the odd screen shot or audio file.

Week ending 30/5/08

GoGo Digger: Isaac is working hard at the moment programming the game (using TGA) and already has the basic game play in place. There’s still a fair way to go, put it’s getting there and it’s going to look and play really good. There’s going to be a lot of character animation in the game to help give the character a really sense of character, I’ve been animating GoGo like mad and there’s a lot of nice little animation to go into the game.

Shuffle Blocks: Dave is busy coding away on Shuffle Blocks (using XNA) and is currently building up the main in game screen, getting all the animation and positions set up, which is a lot of work as there’s a lot of little elements on screen that are animated (the main screen is going to be nice and lively).

I’ve got a large amount of artwork left to do on the game and it will take a few months to do, but it’s going to look nice and play even better and as our first major release, we will make sure it stands out from the crowd.

I’ve been asked why we were doing a word game and the simple answer is that I have never seen a word game that I really liked (the new Book Worm Adventure game was nice and the full version is so much better then the demo, but still didn’t really hit the spot for me), so I guess it was time to see if I could design a better word game. Time will tell I guess, but I think it will play really well. I’m going for an arcade style feel for the game, that’s probably a really bad description and may give you the wrong idea for the game as the game can be played at the players own pace, but with out telling you exactly how the game plays it’s as near as I can get (sorry).

Till next weekend, have a good week!

Mike.
